[senior style] wardrobe

Do you ever have those moments when you have a really important occasion coming up and you look through your closet full of clothes and think to yourself, OMG, I have no idea what to wear!!?  Well, here are a few ideas to get you started. Your senior portraits should showcase your personality, your style, and your fashion--and the best place to start looking for clothes that scream YOU is in your closet. Remember, you want to show off the best of you in your portraits, so although your favorite thing to wear might be yoga pants and a tank top (at least, that's my fave), it's probably not the best choice for your senior portraits (unless, you know, you're a yoga master and it's part of your lifestyle and you want to highlight that).

On the other hand, you can always use your senior portraits as an excuse to go shopping. :)

Start by thinking about when you're going to look at these photos and how you and your family will want to remember you at this time in your life. Really, the more time that goes by, and the further you get from 17, the more special these photos will be, so you want to look your best in them. What do you like to wear when you go out to dinner with your family or hang out on with your friends on Saturday night? Here are three tips for selecting outfits:

>> Pick a good mix of casual and more dressy. To make sure we capture the whole spectrum of your style, pick a couple of tops with jeans, a few dresses, and anything in between. And don't forget your prom dress! That will be one of your top memories from high school, not to mention you might not have many opportunities to wear it again--might as well show it off!

>> Don't be afraid of bold colors and patterns! These aspects of clothing in particular really help define a style, so if you just loooooove paisley or jewel-toned plaids, bring them! Don't worry about "clashing with the background"--it is my job to find a background that compliments your style!

>> Pay attention to the fit of the clothes. Your outfits should flatter the beautiful shape of your body, and clothing that is too tight or too loose will draw attention away from all of the personality you bring to your images.

Teagan's t-shirt and shorts outfit pulls in a nice bold blue, and the fit of the clothes really complements her body shape. The colorful pattern of Becca's maxi dress totally matches her personality and really pops against the neutral tones of the wood shingles behind her.
